I often forget to say thanks for the little things; especially to Barrett and the kids. We take things for granted and even expect certain things to be done for us. My kids have had to do a lot for me, stuff I should be doing for them. Bobbye Sue got some Sonic gift cards for her birthday and bought my ALL TIME FAVORITE drink the other day; a cherry, vanilla Dr. Pepper. It made my day that not only did she think of me, but she paid for it out of her own funds!

It is so easy to be thankful when things are going good. It's easy to be thankful if you going through something and there's been a break through or an answer to prayers. However, it can be real difficult to be thankful when you're going through hard times. That may be the most important time to give thanks. It helps us to remember other times in lives when God has provided for us in difficult times. It reminds us that trials are a test of our faith and brings us closer to God. (James 1:2-4) It shows us how shows us how strong we are. God may be telling us to "STOP AND WAIT". Even though the LAST thing you may feel like doing during hard time is being thankful, it signifies letting go and saying "God, I trust you." God gives us all talents and abilities. There not are the same, that would make life. We are not called to hide them under a bushel and keep them to our self God gave us talents to fellowship with and testify of Him. Our talents are as unique as we are. Some people seam to have many talents, while others may only have one or two. It is easier to get jealous of other people's talents. We tend to think we're not important as others. My husband can talk as well as anyone. People who meet him on the street sometimes ask him to talk in his "radio" to make sure he is who he say he is. His minor in college was speech. (I didn't realize it until just now how ironic it is that he married someone with a speech impediment:)) Anyway, I can pray and want all day but I'll probably never be a radio talk show host ~ that's just not my calling. But I can can write about God; (which he's a better writer than me). I can pray for and encourage others. ect. 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 talks about how the Church is one body made of different parts and how it doesn't work if it doesn't have all the parts. When we envy and want the talents that God has giving others, we're are not being thankful for what He's given us. We're showing a lack of faith and saying "Hey God, you really don't know what You're doing." We are to take the talents that God has given and use them the best way we know how to. In Mathew 25:14-30, Jesus tells a parables of a master who gave three of his servants different amounts of talent. The first two servants increased their talents, but the third buried because he knew how hard the master worked and didn't want to lose his talents. But the master scolded him, said he had wasted his talents and gave them to one of the other servants. Are you wasting the talents God has given you? 1 Theessalonians 5:18 18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Then James 1:2-4 tells us "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." Now. theses two verses may not seam like they go together, but I think in many cases they do. If we are suppose to give thanks in ALL THINGS, That's means we need to gives not only for the good, but also the bad. To often we want to give God thanks when things are going OUR way, but we want to blame Him when they'er not going OUR way. James 3:10 says "Blessing and cursing come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, it just shouldn’t be this way!" Job is a great book to read when you're stuggling. Job 3:10 asks "Shoulde we expect only good from God and not adversity?" Our ultimate goal in live should be to be more and more like Jesus everyday like Jesus. Our trails are to test us and grow our faith. So why wouldn't we want to rejoice in our trails because they should bring us closer to God. Philippians 4:4-9 Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! 5 Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. 7 Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus. 8 From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise.9 Practice these things: whatever you learned, received, heard, or saw in us. The God of peace will be with you. So, I did something this week that I've always said I was going to do but never did. I signed up to take 3 free online classes. 1. A psych class 2. An Intro To Online Leaning class and 3. A Creative Writing class I'm really excited. It'll give me something to do. It'll improve my writing, and we all know I'm crazy,; so maybe I'll learn a thing or two I'm thankful to live in the age that has the technology that I can basically learn about any thing I want too!
